I am interested in so many things that it's impossible to list. I've always been a jack of all trades, master of none. You could say a dilettante. I changed my major so much in college that I never graduated with a degree in anything; first pre-med, then biology, then Middle Eastern studies, then political science, then history. I am interested in history the most, history of anything pretty much, but especially medical and military history and the history of public health and social welfare. I love classical music, opera, alternative, heavy metal, rock - music in general. Music is very important to me. I spend alot of my time reading, on the computer, learning new things, and in my garden, or the outdoors. I love my cats, my dogs, and my friends and family. The people in my life are important to me I want to be a good friend, and have good friends. I have a big heart and I mean well but sometimes don't act on my good intentions. I'm working on that. I am the classic bleeding heart liberal. I grew up with protests against the war (then it was Vietnam), the feminist movement, civil rights, environmentalism, and generally pinko/leftist type politics. I wanted to be in the Weather Underground, I wished I could ride the Freedom buses, I wanted to be in Chicago in 1968. Unfortunately I was 12 at the time and my parents wouldn't let me go. By the time I was old enough to make my own decisions everyone was into disco. I became disillusioned in the 80's with everyone else, lived in Los Angeles and made money. I remember Michael Douglas in "Wallstreet" saying "Greed is good", and carrying a mobile phone the size of a shoebox. That was sort of the feel of the times. I conspicuously consumed and was pretty apolitical. In the 1990's and 2000's I find that I have gradually returned to my roots/idealism. I guess everything is cyclical. |
