Overview

I am interested in so many things that it's impossible to list. I've always been a jack of all trades, master of none. You could say a dilettante. I changed my major so much in college that I never graduated with a degree in anything; first pre-med, then biology, then Middle Eastern studies, then political science, then history. I am interested in history the most, history of anything pretty much, but especially medical and military history and the history of public health and social welfare.

I love classical music, opera, alternative, heavy metal, rock - music in general. Music is very important to me. I spend alot of my time reading, on the computer, learning new things, and in my garden, or the outdoors. I love my cats, my dogs, and my friends and family. The people in my life are important to me I want to be a good friend, and have good friends. I have a big heart and I mean well but sometimes don't act on my good intentions. I'm working on that.

I am the classic bleeding heart liberal. I grew up with protests against the war (then it was Vietnam), the feminist movement, civil rights, environmentalism, and generally pinko/leftist type politics. I wanted to be in the Weather Underground, I wished I could ride the Freedom buses, I wanted to be in Chicago in 1968. Unfortunately I was 12 at the time and my parents wouldn't let me go. By the time I was old enough to make my own decisions everyone was into disco.

I became disillusioned in the 80's with everyone else, lived in Los Angeles and made money. I remember Michael Douglas in "Wallstreet" saying "Greed is good", and carrying a mobile phone the size of a shoebox. That was sort of the feel of the times. I conspicuously consumed and was pretty apolitical. In the 1990's and 2000's I find that I have gradually returned to my roots/idealism. I guess everything is cyclical.

I'm an editor for the Open Directory Editor Profile. I have some great categories there in the nuclear history, Wicca, and gardening areas. I love looking for new sites for the cats I edit, and feel the work is important. We provide the basis for Google, Yahoo and other search engines directories.

I'm a Democratic Precinct committee person for my area but I'm not as active as I should be lately. I've been a registered Democrat all my life. The first Presidential election I voted in was for Carter and I haven't missed one since. I take no responsibility for our current President, he's an a***I worked and voted against him both times and have no idea what those of you who voted for him were thinking. You were either credulous or imbecilic, either way thanks alot for the lovely war buttheads...

I have been a witch for 37 years, I practice solitary, ecclectic witchcraft. I am not Wiccan, but I generally follow the rede anyway. I've done the coven thing, done two year and a day trainings with two different priestesses, at this point I'm interested in a new group that may be starting in my area. I like to learn from a variety of systems and teachers. I'm afraid that I'm sort of a New Agey sort and combine teachings from a variety of spiritual systems into my beliefs. I'm particularly interested in using herbs and crystals in ritual.

I am in the process of opening a metaphysical store in Salem called Fullmoon Magic. It is open on a small scale now and I hope to be fully open by Samhain. If you have magical needs I want to fill them :) We will offer classes and have a range of teachers on a number of magical areas of study. We aim to be inclusive rather than exclusive, all are welcome whatever their paths.
